Matthew R. Williams is a shareholder at KCR. He focuses his practice on commercial litigation matters, including cases in the following areas: business disputes, including breach of contract, breach of representations and warranties in M&A transactions, fraud and other business torts; partnership and shareholder disputes, including minority shareholder oppression; real estate; higher education; antitrust; intellectual property and life sciences; and employment issues, including discrimination, wrongful termination and non-competition agreements.

Mr. Williams has handled jury and bench trials and is experienced in resolving disputes through negotiation, mediation and arbitration. He also has experience advising clients on e-discovery issues, antitrust compliance and government investigations. Prior to joining KCR, Mr. Williams was associated with Pepper Hamilton LLP, where he worked in its Philadelphia office, handling a variety of complex commercial litigation.

  • Represented a large truck manufacturer in antitrust action brought by dealer

  • Represented minority shareholders in an oppression action seeking the appointment of a custodian and other relief under Pennsylvania law

  • Represented a real estate developer in an action where a court-appointed receiver asserted claims for breach of fiduciary duty, fraud, conversion, violation of the Pennsylvania Uniform Fraudulent Transfer Act and equitable subordination

  • Represented a real estate developer in action against a bank for fraud and breach of contract

  • Represented students in relation to the disciplinary proceedings of various educational institutions

  • Represented life sciences company in dispute over patent and other intellectual property rights

  • Represented entertainment company in connection with contractual and intellectual property claims related to amusement park ride
